I am looking at putting a 13b-re Twin Turbo(out of a 90’s cosmo) into a tube frame 914 I own. I am not extremely familiar with the mazda line of 13 series engines. When ordering parts what exact engine is it? Here is where I am confused. I have read it is different from earlier 13b’s and more like a 13b-rew out of an rx7. When searching the history of mazda engines I could read no exact mention of a 13b-re Wikipedia says the 90+ cosmo used the rew .

What would be needed to convert it to a naturally aspirated engine (I am looking for recommendations on parts from specific manufacturers as I realise the manifold, etc..)

Would porting templates for other 13b's work or is the 13b-re from a cosmo that different?

Thanks for your time.

the cosmo is half way between the FD engines and the turbo II engines. the rotating assembly is FC, but its got the fd front cover bits (oil pump, thrust bearings).

the housings are unique, but close to the fd ones.

If you are looking to go NA why not just port a NA engine and call it a day?

Parts would be easier & cheaper that route.
