For what it's worth, I had a MR2 in my earlier days (4AG) and the power is very linaer, but very lacking of torque. I compare that motor to a sewing machine, very smooth right up to it's 7500 RPM Redline. (I think it could have done 10,000 RPM if it didn't have that Damn Revlimiter) but definately could have used some boost.
