Got a Holset HX40 Turbo now and I want to redo my set-up to better suit it and up my power to the 550whp area... and I will be running on E85. Im also using a 500cc (M8) AI injection on this for further cooling and detonation supression. Im trying to make detonation a thing of the past... Between the E85, 50/50 Injection, Intercooler, and running RA super seals. It would take an act of god to break this motor. Or a fuel pump failing at high boost...





The thing is, neither set-up will cost me more than 500 bucks. because most of the parts I have laying around in the garage. and what i dont have, I can fab up myself. So cost isnt the issue. Wich is whats usually my deciding factor...





current set-up



Pineapple racing Med street port for REW on S5 TII plates

Racing beat street port exhaust

crappy Ebay T70 turbo kit (is being replaced with HX40 and custom manifold with 4" downpipe)

Apex-i Power FC

850 primarys/1680 secondarys

S5 TII lower intake manifold

FD Throttlebody and UIM

93+ pump (switching to E85)







my 2 plans, cant decide...







Keep the TII/FD Intake manifolds as is, But add two more 1680's to the TII lower manifold

Use either Rice Racing Very large street port templates

*or ITO wild street port template and Pineapple racing EP4 exhaust template (there biggest)





-or-





Keep the Street port i have on there now, and do a semi-pp (1.125")

Use the Pineapple racing EP4 template for exhaust

Modify a JW manifold for semi-pp (already have it sitting in the garage)

custom make an upper plenum (similar to old Pro-jay one) with Mustang 80mm throttle body (already have the TB and only 100 bucks in material to make the plenum)





I threw around the bridgeport idea. but decided if i was gonna have a lumpy idle and it be a bitch to drive on the street. i might as well go semi-pp. bridge ports are sooooo last year. lol...





also, I'm going with a Microtech LT8 i have sitting around and selling the Power FC. its a dope ECU, but all the good tuners for it are about 2 hours away from me. All the rotary shops here prefer Microtech and Sakura...

it does sound way more awesome, dosnt it.



I havnt been able to find and ITO street ports anyways. And I dont think its worth the money for the RICE RACING ones. I emailed him and he wanted me to buy the pineapple ones. Then ship them to him for him to port those. then ship them back. Between paying him, and pineapple racing. add in shipping. its just not worth it...

i'm lazy, if it was my car, i'd put the jw intake on the motor, and raise the boost you can make 550hp on stock ports...



i agree with ditching the PFC, and switching to e85...

I thought about that also.So easy. I could get it all done in a day... But its not stock ports anymore. I used the Pineapple racing REW med street port template on these. Wich is kinda big for TII ports.



i still dont know what to do... Im thinking semi-pp, because i wanna try this new thing i was thinking of. Instead of maching an aluminum insert to the hole. and surrounding it with epoxy. why not just fill the entire are with epoxy first, then have the PP hole bored out to the size i wanted. No need to fit the tubing. pretty simple... This is whats making me want the semi-PP. I also wanted to see if i could modify the stock TII lower for semi-pp.

i'd rather drive the car at this point, a couple years ago though it would have been more interesting to try your new port idea.

so, people have already just bored through the epoxy instead of using tubing? i dont get what your saying...

i'm saying, even though your idea is a good one, it would be more fun just to leave the engine in the race car and go racing

I agree with above. And besides, the limiting factor on a 13BT is less likely to be your port than the rear plate IMO, you may as well just use it as is. I've got a similar setup and goals, an S4 with a really large streetport, ALS seals, studded, etc. and a PTE HP4271 billet turbo coming for it. I plan on seeing what I can do, and once it cracks the rear plate (pretty much best case scenario) upgrade to some RE irons with either a bridge or a large streetport.



A quick example is Enzo from NY, they just made over 700whp (I think, it was lots either way) on a bone stock REW and big 75mm turbo, before blowing it though. You can make the power you want without going semi-pp. Plus, it would be nice for you to get the new turbo and manifold on, get it dynoed, and then switch port designs to w/e you decide, dyno again and compare the curves. A lot of times people are more intent on "upgrading" than they are with measuring the actual results to be gained. my 2 bits.
