Well I just read the first part of the compitition manual, and mazda coated the corner seals and side seals with Molybdenum, so maybe there is some decent benifits after all.
they also stopped doing it, those seals havent been available for at least 10-15years

Blinkers off time my young friend. The data is out there that says it does increase tensile strength, abrasion resistance and surgace hardness. At least with steels. Cast Iron may not enjoy the same gains of course, but proof is there.

10-15 Years. Would that mean that these cornerseals and what not would have been used in the R26B? Do any of the engineers on this site able to point me to a place where I might be able to find more info on all this stuff (including cryo) that isn't generated by the companies that are selling this stuff?
Maybe a Mazda SAE paper concearning the treated seals and what not vs. the stock pieces?

those particular seals in that comp manual (theres more than that one, r100, rx2, rx3), are so long dead there isnt even a date when they were nla. also they would be different than the r26b seals, the ones in the comp manual are for the pre 86 style rotors with the 1mm side seals and 3mm apexes.
usually when a part goes nla (no longer available) they will put a date on it. usually these go back to about 96-97ish, after that the part numbers just dont work. so 10-15 years is a guess on my part, but its an educated one
