water/methanol injection street car setup
#1
i have a turbo 2 motor with a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, and street port and was wandering if i run a water/methanol injection system instead of a intercooler would i be ok driving it on the streets. a tech from the performance shop i deal with suggested it to me because i the intercooler i had was too small. they have a hyndai tiburon with a supercharger kit with the same system i want to use and he puttin out 361 hp at the wheels on the stock motor. does anyone have any input for this type of setup?

TBH i cant see why not. We ran a elford turbo at 16.5 psi with pre turbo methanol injection with no problems at all. I also know of somebody running a t51kai with no intercooler.
I think you will need to go in before the turbo and also after the turbo for best results. Make sure its a really good kit though.

wat do you mean before the turbo and after the turbo? are ;you including an intercooler?
Pre turbo water injection is when you spray at the turbo scroll nut. This can dyastically change the turbos performance. It will also kill the heat at its primary source.
I would then also spray water after the turbo in to the intake tract.
you can make a injection model on the not to fast turbo calculator.

none of the cars i mentioned used an intercooler.
With methanol and a intercooler i can drop my temps in to the sub zero. around -11 deg C

so you are saying straight at the turbo compressor wheel? and how much horsepower did obtain with your setup?
yes..... if you spray too much liquid at the compressor wheel it can damge the leading edge of the wheel.
Dont know about power figures since the car never went on the dyno. This set up is no longer used but did very well when it was.
You are going to need a very good system due to how critical it will be. I would recomend an aquamist system if you plan to use water of 50 50 and a dds3 to monitor all systems
