I have a 13b I'm looking to take apart and was wondering if there was any method to use to get it apart without a counter weight . The rear nut is already loose but the front is not and without being able to make the engine stop spinning I was unsure of how to do it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

You have to make sure the flywheel is on. The nut for it can be on loosely. You either need a flywheel stoper or a 3 to 4 foot long peice of iron. Drill hole to match the flywheel on the iron. Then attach it to the flywheel and brace it against something. I use my work bench. Then all you need is a breaker bar w/ a 19mm socket and a 3 foot pipe to put on the end of the breaker bar. The rest should be simple.

Good luck!

I find it to be very easy with a flywheel or just a counterweight on but without is the problem I'm facing now. I've thought about just scewing down the rear e-shaft nut as much as I can till it runs out of threads but I'm concerned that might damage either the nut or the shaft.

dude, i'm living in a place where i know no one. i used to have access to a shop where i'm from ... long story.

anyway my point is the last motor i pulled apart i did it with hand tools. i pulled the rear half of the motor off, removed the oil pan and pickup tube, sat what was left (the front half) on an old blanket and took it to a local shop and asked the guy to hit the front main bolt with an impact wrench. voila. i can't really remember, but i don't even think he charged me for it.

Impact gun, a 19 millimeter socket, and a rubber strap strap wrench. That's how I pulled the bolt off the front of my 12A, because I didn't want to put a flywheel on it. That's the easiest way to pull it off. I just pulled apart the 12A yesterday. Now we have 3 12A engines in pieces in the garage.
