Remember, your dip will last longer if you preclean the loose crap and oil off them first

What do you guys use for cleaning engine parts. Im just tired of using solvent and gasoline. I want something skin friendly and biodegredable.
Thanks
The problem with your request is that, generally speaking, the gunk and crust you are trying to clean are chemically similar to your skin. Anything you can find that will attack oil, grime, and carbon will also attack your flesh.
If by biodegradable you mean econazi-approved with rainbows and sunshine and fluffy squirrels, there are a lot of citrus based cleaning chemicals on the market. These are as nasty if not nastier than your usual petrochemical solution, and are a close second to lye. Mother Nature makes some seriously bad stuff.
I just use the old kerosene tank to get the wet stuff off, and the glass beading cabinet to get the crusties. Never try to media-blast a wet part unless you like generating huge messes.
