I replaced the pressure regulator with a higher oil FC regulator in and modified the front by shimming it.

I was browsing around and found that the shims needs to be:

" These are shims used under the piston in the front cover oil pressure regulator when using a higher-than-stock pressure main oil pressure regulator in the rear plate."

This is from the website.

I put the shims on top of the spring then the cap. To me is the same thing, does it make a difference??

As long as the shims (I'm assuming you're using washers with a hole in the middle) can't shift and block the outlet hole there is no difference.

Where's this site you are getting this information, I was going to do this as well. I keep hearing 3mm worth of shims/washers.

Sounds like it could have come from Atkins' website. They recommend shimming the front. The funky sentence structure is a dead give away too.

Racing Beat says 1/8" when using the comp 105-115 psi regulator. That works out to about 3mm.

If you're using a regulator out of an FC there would be no need to shim the front spring. If you're using an FD regulator just use the FD spring.

Is there a definitive guide somewhere for doing this? I have to do this on my S5 NA soon, and there appears to be some confusion floating around.
