Default Restore Rusty Rotors

I bought an RX8 engine off ebay that had internal rust and started taking it apart. I could not get the front eshaft bolt off yet, so took it apart from the back, which doesn't work.. but did get the rear housing and rotor off.
The rotors are rusted. I didn't attempt to remove any seals as I've read it can damage the rotor. I found one post saying to soak them in diluted muriatic acid that would allow the seals to be removed without damage.
Is this going to work? Any suggestions on how/if this engine can be salvaged?

I have been thinking of building a single rotor aluminum engine for a custom electric-hybrid setup, and don't want to pay for good stuff that I will likely just destroy in a prototype.

I wanted to add that I have built a custom twin-turbo 12a for a jetboat I have made, so not a total newbie with rotaries..
