Has anyone tried using the renisis rotors,eccentric shaft, stationary gears and bearings in an older 13b? i was curious to the effects of such a build. i have heard the rotors are lighter and the the gears are stronger. maybe a shot in the dark but could be a nice build, since the parts are cheaper then the upgrades and on par with the the stock replacements for the 13b.

It works fine, but Ive yet to hear of anyone making any more power than with s5 internals. The pricing is good on them, but dont forget the rotors will need to be milled for full-depth apex seals. The renesis ones arent made to pass over an exhaust port.

yeah i wasnt sure what the outcome would be. didnt think there would be that big of a difference in power, i was more interested in the actuall strength and durability. i think if i understood right the renisis internals were stronger. nice catch on the apex seal issue

people are using the shaft and gears. its basically an fd set but a little nicer, and way cheaper.



so far the rotors are not better. they have more compression, but the chamber is not better than the S5. they also need machining (which needs to be really exact!) to use apex seals that can handle going over an exhaust port. also the side seals use a different clearance, due to the renesis seeing exhaust.



by the time you fix an rx8 rotor to even work in an earlier engine, you could have just bought S5 rotors...

Go to rccdigizine.com they've got an article about Renesis parts and how they compare to REW parts. Surprised no one mentioned it yet, but the big benefit of the E shaft is it is a fair bit lighter. Don't know about flex as a result of that, but it seems like a good upgrade if you want to rev a fair bit higher.

The e-shaft is so close to the axis of rotation, that its weight has almost no noticable effect. Dont forget the rotors are considerably lighter in the renesis, which means less stress on the e shaft, so the e shaft can be made lighter.



The popular choice for high rpm motors is the pre-rx7 13b ecc shafts. Its the heaviest and the strongest. Ive got one Im saving for my PP engine.

for a high rpm NA i think the rx8 shaft is the better choice, its clearanced already.
