MEK blast carbon like no tommorrow! As soon as it touches it runs.
Ooh. We have that stuff in stock. I'm gonna try that tomorrow.
I'm in the process of soaking the rotors in 2 different solutions. MEK, and Toluol. I can't get the side seals out of this one rotor, even after letting it soak in MEK for 18 hours. I just moved on to a different rotor, so I dont waste time on a dead rotor. I have 1 1/2 rotors done now, out of 4 (should be 6, but i dont know where the other 2 rotors went!).
i save old side seals for specifically this purpose. soak the rotor in solvent and use an old seal ... voila!
for the really stubborn cases (only 1 to date) i put the rotor in the freezer for 24 hours and then went at it with the old seal.

What'd you use to pull it out?
WOW the exacto worked perfect for me. Are you putting the blade under the seal and using it as a chizzle? Chizzle the seal out don't pry it out. I put the blade under the side seal and used a hammer and chizzled it out. tap tap tap it out. my seals broke out in one inch chunks. try some PB Blaster.
Yeah, I'm putting it under and using it as a chisel. Like I said, some of the seals are possibly fucked over. We might have some PB blaster in the garage. If we do, I hope it will help me rip the seals out. I also found another way to rip some seals out. I'd break out like a 1" section, then pull the spring up, then grab it with pliers, and pull straight up, and it usually ripped the seal out in chunks.
