What are the advantages to having light weight rotors compaired to stock?

vosko 01-28-2003 02:10 PM

i'm pretty sure they are listed on http://www.racingbeat.com

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 02:25 PM

yup, they are. lighter is better

There will be a drop in low end torque but a gain in high end horsepower and rev range if im correct.

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 02:34 PM

it shouldnt affect power at all, but the engine will be able to accelerate faster

less low end tork, but if you've got the port and the right apex seals you can rev higher without the worry of e-shaft flex..

the RB ultralight ones look nice. Too bad they are freaking $2200

Node 01-28-2003 03:10 PM

thatd be interesting to see if there was a torque difference once you changed flywheels and whatnot.

id think that theoretically there would.

Geoffman72 01-28-2003 03:20 PM

I dont think there is. I dont feel a difference since I went from the 29lb stocker to an RB 12lb'er.

j9fd3s 01-28-2003 04:52 PM

well there might be, beacuse the engine has so expend less energy to get the parts moving. its inertia, if it takes x amount of force to accelerate your rotating mass from 1000 to 7000 rpms, what if you cut the rotating mass in half
