I'm glad you found this forum Sean, lots of great info and experience here!
I have Seans motor at my shop right now waiting to be torn down. He picked up a nice clean jspec 13B Cosmo RE motor. We will be using the rotors from it which are the same as the S5 T2.
Any motors that I have built so far have been streetported T2 blocks and a turboed 6 port N/A. In every build I have used stock OEM parts without a problem.
I have no experience with using Atkins or Rotary Aviation apex seals or solid corner seals, so I couldn't recomend any of these to Sean. I really like what I here so far about Atkins solid corner seals and their 2mm apex seals. There is hardly a price difference between the Atkins seals and Mazda stock seals. So to me its kind of a toss up bettween the two.

like joe said we already have a motor. and at this point in my build im not even thinking about what turbo to use, fueling etc...all im concerned with is trying to educate myself as much as i can, based on others experinces (not opinions) with high output motors, on what brands of seals, bearings and other internal modifications i.e. cermeting to use in my motor. I appreciate the help and the ability this forum gives me to learn from others mistakes.

id avoid atkins apex seals, just run stock mazda seals.
ill be guinea-pigging some new rotary aviation apex seals in my t2 motor, still not positive if i want to use them, but unfortunately mazda doesnt make a 3mm.

are they strong enough for 20psi+ boost? if so i might go with those.
any posts about them being used? id prefer not to guineapig **** in a motor thats taken me almost 2 years to prepare.

Yep they can handle it . My friend runs 26 psi in a s5 turbo engine with 3mm mazda seals . Engine got pulled down a few weeks ago they still looked ok considering the abuse. And all the 12a turbo corners were still in one piece. I ve got them in my FD never had a problem , and had some detonation well tuning , the sort that would destroy 3pc 2mm seals. Some guys mill the under side of apex seal and cut down the 3mm springs and use a twin set up like mazda dose with factory 2mm seals . But ive never had problems with so called bounce. But know of rotor slots not wide enough causing them to stick so it pays to make sure gaps measure up to factory specs. Only really a problem with FD rotors as the tips are hardened and are harder on slotting tool and always seem to be a bit tighter than s4 rotors.

Port timing and duration affect chamber pressures. Comparing your 20 psi to the guy down the street @20 psi with different porting will yield very different results. Psi isnt an accurate comparison. Chamber pressures are usually closer related to HP.

im guessing we're talking about the 3mm steel ones from mazda? are they cheaper at mazdatrix or the dealer? i think mazdatrix wants $87 each.

Yea just the ones you get at mazda. In NZ we didnt get gsl se 13 s3 rx7 but they would be the ones we get when you ask for 13b 3mm seals. My friends car made over 450 rwhp on rolling road dyno but kept wheel spinning which makes the curve drop off , even when stapped down and 4 big guys sitting in the back seat ( rx3 4door)
