Back to the topic of how smooth a Port should be. I spoke with Dave today and asked him what he thought. He believes.......without a doubt...that the best way to go is to Polish the ports as smooth as possible. He is actually porting mine right now. He was in his shop doing my housings etc... Can't wait to get my engine back from someone who actually knows what they are doing. Hayes really did a number on me...lol I wasn't surprised though.

I don't understand,if you knew you were getting a pos why did you buy a motor from them just to tear it downand do it right?also judge you might have a view on this note,i didn't think it was a good thing to run a turbo on a peripheral cause of so much overlap and uneven exh pulses.545 rwh doesn't seem like alot of power from a turbo peripheral. if that combo worked abel would use it.all of the fastesed guys are running streetports.

Whoa......slow down tex I never said that I KNEW I was getting a POS engine. Here's the deal. Back when I first got my car 5 yrs. ago it had just under 50k miles. It lasted for a year when a stuck thermostat ended the original motors life. I drove one block before pulling over and getting it towed.......too late.......warped housings etc... So, I didn't know much about engine builders at the time but was refered to Hayes Rotary by someone local. I went ahead and sent them my engine for a rebuild. The beginning of nothing but crap. Several months after my engine is in and running, all the horror stories start coming out about Hayes. Jim Labreck, Chuck Westbrook, and the whole crewe lay it on me. Well, that engine lasted for about a year and a half before I had another coolant seal issue. This time without any overheating whatsoever!! Perhaps old out of spec internals that were waiting to go were the cause. So, since it was still under warranty I figure why not let them build me another. Don tells me that he'll build me one and have it back out within a week or two. HAHAHA..........that week or two turned into 5 MONTHS !! Then, I finally get it in and installed...........the POS started smoking like a chimney after 5 hrs. of running it. Then it lasted running for 1k miles before compression went to ****, burning oil and surprise surprise.......coolant seal bypass again. This time, send it to David Biggers and he tears it down hoping that we just need a partial rebuild.......wrong. Everything in my engine was crap except for the housings, the middle plate and rear plate. He said every seal and spring, bearing and front plate looked like it had been sitting in a junk yard for years. The front plate actually looked like it got tore up and someone attempted to resurface it with no luck but they still used it. Both of my rotors were FULL of gashes and he seems to think that they are not even '93 rotors. He is going to measure/weigh them and tell me for sure. Anyway, now I'm getting all new internals and a real engine for the first time since my original one died. Stay tuned, I will post tons of pics. of the Hayes Rotary pile of ****.

My friends Rx3 made 631rwhp @21lbs of boost on his P-Port engine. Very impressive indeed. Yes the Peripheral port engine has a huge overlap(Intake and exhaust ports opened at the same time) My friends P-port has his intake ports further up and away from the exhaust port. Trying to eliminate overlap as much as possible. It's working great for him. I personally know of another car running a 3 rotor P-port that is making some serious power at low boost. My friends Rx3 is a fairly new proyect. Sunday he will test and tune and Ill keep everybody posted.
