Is the side port exhaust really all that much better than the older peripheral exhaust port?

What I'm wondering is if you took Renesis irons and blocked off the intake ports and got the Renesis rotor housings machined for a Peripheral Port.

Would the port timing on the Renesis irons for the exhaust be any good for a PP N/A application? I haven't yet had the opportunity to tear down a Renesis motor yet, so any Renesis experts can hopefully answer my question

Thanks

Okay you need to be more specific here. So you're asking what would happen if the ports in an old engine were switched? Perri port intake, and side port exhaust? Huh I wonder..

I've looked at peripheral inlet & exhaust porting a renesis housing and came to the conclusion it would be a huge amount of work, only beacuse the ex side would be difficult to do. The advantage is the ex opening could be made later like the MFR housings.

Edit- whoops, read the question wrong.

just use an older motor if you want peripheral exhaust ports. the renesis ports are done that way so the motor can pass smog (among other reasons)

i had an idea. we're all thinking PP like the race PP's, but maybe it just needs the 3 hole port like the old non us 10a and early 12a engines had

i was thinking about doing that with a 4-port renesis.

i'm not sure how the restrictive exhaust ports would react to overlap. you'll definately need to spend a lot of time developing an intake system for it.
