I was looking at stock 86-88 rotor housing today and saw that above the exhaust port there is a kinda hole looking thing. It has some casting around it but I was looking that that same hole macthes tha freez plug looking thing that the intake manifold has. I was wondering if a small P-Port was opened up in that hole and on the intake manifold on the same spot with a flapper inside the hole in the manifold.
Wouldnt that have some performance gains and wont effect idel since at idel the flapper would be closed keeping it essentially non ported. I dont know **** im just throwing up ideas mabey it is possible. |
wouldn't work for many reasons, that's the position where the face of the rotor runs flat so it would basically flow exhaust out when the apex seal glides over and then when the rear apex closes the exhaust port it might suck intake air. plus if you tried to put a port in it you might have to make a custom channel through the water jacket or else the coolant would flow right into the combustion area.... like i said many reasons. either way don't let it stop you from thinkin up new ideas...

hey tyson is that just a pic you have found on the forum or have you located a source for those partial-p ported manifolds. i need one i can do the rest.........
|
Somebody posted them at one time or another on the forums.
If you get a hold of a copy of RX-7 Magazine and someone who speaks Japanese you should be able to find one. Or maybe contact JT-Imports here and ask if he can find one. |
aha oops looks like i f'ed up. looks very interesting though

Damn that is exactly what I was thinking. But with that manifold wont that make that cars idel like 2K and suck for daily driving? Mabey if the port in thoes manifolds where modified to something like the euro spec manifolds with a TB looking thing instead of the 6PI Sleevs where the actual P-Port was done to keep that closed at idel.
BTW:: How much do hoes cost? |
Partial P Port runs BOTH ports?
