The only disvantage to that is that you will still be using the stock injection locations, rather than a spray pattern injection (if you were to mix it up with gas)
That is a theoretical advantage, not disadvantage.
The stock oil injectors drool the oil out onto the housing surfaces. Meanwhile, the fuel injectors spray the oil into the airstream, and only part of it will ever find its way to the housings.
Six of one, half a dozen of the other. It depends on if you don't mind having to run an excess of oil in your fuel or the inevitable oil in the carpet, or if you don't mind trusting a mildly failure prone device with your seal lube.

It's a secondary supply for the stock pump, the stock OMP bolts to it. It blocks the feed of oil from the gallery in the front cover and draws a supply from the fitting shown.
And, yes, it's a pump, and yes, there is gravity fed pumps. Some pumps aren't strong enough to pull oil from below, hence the fitting on top of the new pump and the note to make sure the level is always at least 6" above the pump. I don't know for sure but it might not even act so much as a pump to draw 2 stroke as it is just a blockoff for the 4 stroke gallery (which is pressurized) and uses gravity fed two stroke from another source, and the gear shown is just a dummy to extend the actuation of the stock OMP (which bolts to it).

From my experience with 2 stroke dirt bikes I really think ya got this backwards here.

wht we do as th oem oil metering pump will amost fail so we take it off and remove the drive aswell and thn either pl8 it up or we press fit a alloy rod into th hole and tig weld thn polish it thn it is premix only we use tht valvoline non-smoke 2-stoke oil and ths way you r garrenty tht you r oiling th housings and apexs all th time

Perhaps.
On the other hand, Mazda injects significantly less oil than we premix into fuel, on the order of 250:1 to 400:1 and even leaner on the newer engines.
I also recall one of the Japanese companies selling a 2 stroke with a separate oil tank and a metering oil pump type arrangement that pumped the oil directly to the bearings, on the premise that since the oil went pretty much where it was needed, less would need to be used.
