Hey there,

I'm wondering what is the difference between a full bridge port and a half bridge port.

And what are the advantages and disadvantages of both of them.

Thanx for any help.

full bridge is when all 4 or 6 ports are bridged, half is when u only bridge the secondary ports. basicly the center iron doesnt have the bridge and the end irons do.

I see...so I guess full bridge would be for better power while half bridge would be more for street applications??

from what i have read, a partial bridge gives a more power though the entire powerband, a full bridge makes More power up high,, and not quite as much down low

This might have been answered before but I have heard that you can get more power from bridge porting a 4-port (putting N/A rotors in) instead of bridge porting a 6-port, both engines being kept N/A. Is there any truth in this??

I know some people on this forum are doing the 6-port N/A bridge port instead of a 4-port N/A bridge port, but what were their reasons for doing this??

I don't know what the reasons other people have are. But I know this ...

when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. Seeing as this was the most reasonably priced engine I could find I decided to take the challenge to make it quick. It will allow me to better control the port area in 3 different stages.

Idle to 3000 rpm, Primaries

3001 to 6500, secondaries

6500+auxiliaries

this way the flow can be tailored to the load being placed on the engine at any time.

just my $.02

Hehe, I like the lemon analogy.

What do u think the power difference between a 6-port N/A bridgeport and 4-port N/A bridgeport would be??

ArmyOfOne-->How do you like your engine so far?? Reliable?? Any dyno figures??

Any pics??

Full bridge also requires the use of one piece apex seals, and moves the power even higher in the RPMS than the half bridge.

u do not need 1 piece seal for full bridge

If you use a aftermarket 2 peice you can get away with it, but I still wouldn't cut the primary bridge that big due to the chance of the corner assist piece trying to flip in to the port at high rpm where the bridge engine will want to be.

Any bridgeport isn't that streetable, sure you could drive it on the street, if you don't mind getting tickets every other day and pissing off everyone around you by making lots of noise a dumping raw fuel in to the air at idle that will burn the hell out of their eyes...
