Hi guys,

A friend of mine just blew the engine on his 1993 Model rx-7... When the mechanic took the motor apart he found scracthes on one housing and on the other one there were scratches and a deep impression.. Not that deep though.. deep for a housing.. I will attach pics...

Now the mechanic says he can fix these housings.. Which i am skeptical about... Someone on the forum told me once that housings cannot be machined.. Is it possible... The mechanic says he will make oversized seals... And is asking only $400-500 for the complete rebuild... Ok this guy has never before worked on the rx...but the housings are gone anyway.. I am telling my friend not to have it done... Should i tell him to go ahead??

Is it possible??

Thanks

Yeah, mate, just give her a quick 60thou oversize bore and she'll be right. (Just like a V8, really)

He may be able to fix it if he can strip the chrome off the housing, weld the scratches up, machine them smooth and rechrome the lot.........

And then he's gunna make "oversize" seals? I'd like to seee that........
