I hear alot about what apex seals are the best but everyone has different favourites depending on their experiences, this got me to thinking- What seals do the major japanese tuners use? Amemiya- Exclusively 'NB Apex Seals', Scoot Sports is one of Japans most respected rotary performance establishments, and is the designer of the NB Apex Seal. (over 5 years of development) Designed to see 2.0kg boost pressure and 10 000rpm redlines! Scoot sports use these seals in their 327kph top speed FD running T51R and 522kW,over 700hp! This car hits 10 000rpm In top gear! waaa!

If these seals are good enough for Amemiya etc then why are they not used as 'the best apex seal' the world over?

the fact that they are ~950 dollars might have something to do with it. Looks interesting though, i like how they used the small style apex seal corner piece.

 

nobody sells them here, we have ianetti ceramics, i dont know how comparable they are though

 

Cost is the main issue. Nobody really uses those seals in their cars in Japan either.

Only in the tuners "prize" cars. Rmagic uses them in his drag car and circuit car but does not reccomend them to customers. Japanses tuners are looking for customer options as well.

 

Didn't Scott(head) break one of these apex seals?
