Hello to all us rotorheads,

I have done my homework only to find mazda must be smoking something. How can a MFG'er charge such outlandish prices for their parts. They in fact darn near force us to buy new or new used RX-7's as it is cheaper to buy a whole new car than buy a new 13B from them (just the block BTW).

For instance if your in need of new emmissions gizmo's like the 3 way vacuum swithes of which there are four, and the lil spider as we all call it.

You will easily be out 600 bucks before tax and shipping.

Luckily for all of us, the japanese car quality controls are so strict!. I have a 13B motor that is 50% dissasembled. I found it is cheaper to buy a 30K motor from japan than it is to purchase the rebuid kit for it.

Does anyone know why Mazda is so rediculous? They in fact force the situation into a disposable car/motor situation!

I thank god for these japnese motors and things like ebay I tell you!

Your comparing the price of a rebuild kit which would give you all new compression points (seals & springs), all new gaskets and coolant/oil seals to a used 30K miles engine sitting in a junkyard which you have no idea the quality of it.



Personally I'd spend extra to rebuild the engine as opposed to buying a junk engine.



BTW - I know someone how has bought over 20 "Jspec" engines from Japan for spare parts and normally half of them are bad. Also, there really isnt any difference in the "Jspec" engine and the US engine

if you buy everything new for an fd motor (i mean everything) to build a short block, its about 6k. THATS THE MOST YOU CAN SPEND ON THE MOTOR.



bmw charges like 30,000 for an m3 motor, thats 5x more for a rod throwing lump of crap



rotary engines, in the scheme of things are cheap

I here what your saying about **** being expensive. I know first hand what you mean, trust me. But I still rather spend the extra money for a motor that I know will be rock soild than buy one of those "J"-spec jobs from Japan. First of all I've seen them and none of them look like than only have 30K on them, and if you saw how they handel this things you wouldn't buy one at any price. Believe me. You don't know what the "J" in "J"-spec stands for do you? I'll give you a hint; it's not JApan

yeah mazda is $$$$ but there are a couple good places to get parts and work done. Ray at malloy mazda almost always get me super great prices for new oem parts. plus free grund shipping! lol i havent even called the local dealership to buy a part since i found places like Malloy mazda/jt-imports/rotaryextreme...basically any of our sponsers.

Ok then, can anybody show m e the way to the cheapest stock non turbo motor? Or a complete reseal kit? This is a tax return project. I could use some help.

Short of lucking out on ebay I saw a complete T2 motor on there for 999.

I'm not sure I want a T2 though I heard a single is better. I would like ot keep things simple, while keeping the EFI system.

Any help here would be great!

t2 doesnt mean there are 2 turbos, i think thats what u were thinking, its a 2 rotor single turbo motor. the car was called a turbo II
