if you think about it the each rotor oil seal wants to spin in the rotor. and the spring that would hold it in on one side of the rotor wont work on the other side of the rotor, because its on the opposite side

I don't know about the "racing" springs. I didn't know there was such a thing.

I have been racing the rotaries since 1980 and have been using stock springs without a problem.

There are two sets of springs. Front inner and outer, and rear inner and outer.

There are shallow notches on the back of the scraper rings. The flat end of the spring catches that notch when the drag on the scraper makes it walk backwards in the rotor. The other end of the spring is rounded, and fits into a flat bottomed drilling in the bottom of the ring channel, in the rotor.

I have to think about that every time I put one together. The scraper moving around inside the channel probably wouldn't cause much of a problem other than wearing out the "O" ring seal.

If you put some springs in backwards, it won't show up for quite a while. Then the engine will just start to smoke a bit (at first).

Just drop in a spring and set a scraper in the (oiled) channel without the "O" ring and then try turning the scraper in both directions. Notice that you can only turn it in one direction. Take it apart and see why it only turns one way.

The ends of the spring form "one way ratchet stops" in one direction, but just drag across the notches in the other.

The object is that the scraper should turn with the rotor when you are turning the rotor in the running direction (clockwise from the front view) and not turn with the rotor when you turn the rotor backwards (anticlockwise from the front view).

Just another thing that sounds complex, but once you get your mind around it, You get a terrible headache.

I had them, and I couldn't find a noticeable increase in spring tension between the comp ones and the stock ones. :P

I think it's a waste of money.

When I had an OPR problem, they burned up just like the stock ones do.
