4 rotor,

You could pick up a rotary engine core at a junk yard for a hundred bucks or less and disassemble it, then rebuild it yourself. I learned so much by taking mine apart myself for the first time. The rotary engine is so elegant and simple; it is a thing of beauty. You might really enjoy some hands on exploring of the rotary engine. You might need to get a couple special tools (flywheel nut wrench for example, about $30) and have a basic tool set but if you would like to go into a mechanical field as a career, tools will be a good investment. Actually, tools are a good investment anyways if you plan on doing your own maintenance and repairs. The real fun in rotary engine building is the porting. It is an art.

That a great idea about getting an engine and taking it apart,I read up at RotrayEngineIllustrated.com and I would like to be able to do ports and such on the rotary engines.I see a great future with me and these great cars.

no offense or anything...but this is just a great example of how the karma system deal on this site is flawed, hes a master of the rotary universe, but hes asking about learning how the engines work, more or less. i dont mean any offense to you by the way.
