Japanese Ported 13b Hp Increase?
#1
Can anyone familiar with the older 13b small 6 port used in the Formula Mazda race car tell me how much additional HP can be extracted from that stock engine by doing simple porting. The engine as it is now is a non-U.S. ported engine with side draft webbers, and will not exceed 7100 rpm on its own (like trying to whistle thru your pecker I am told). The FM cars are rated at 175HP as is. I would like to get to 230 or so with this engine without a major endeavor. My understanding is that the heavy rotors and stock bearings will not take much in the way of rpm.
I am just getting into rotory engines and need some expert advice. I wanted to just build a bridgeport but now have some concerns over the transaxle's capability. I was told that 240 HP would be max it could handle. Was also told that the current engine could be modified to about 225 HP without much effort. Sounds great but , I now need to know exactly what is involved in that effort.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
