I have some 20B questions for you guys...

I know Racing beat has a 20b steel exhaust and intake flanges.
Why do all 3 flanges need to be attached? Couldn't you have a separate flange for each pipe? Mazdatrix sells 13b stainless flanges you could sacrifice.

That's true. I never thought of that, but I guess it is a possibility to use seperate flanges. It wouldn't be as strong I would think, but I might not be thinking of it correctly. Anyone else have a thought about that?

yeah just use a 13bt gasket and cut some flanges out of 10mm plate then ount them onto ya housings and measure up the distance between ya flanges on the engine and cut some more plate and just weld them together, thats all i intend on doing for my 20b single turbo.
it wouldnt be hard juts use a gas axe and then tidy it all up with a die grinder.
assuming you have access to these tools.

I have access to a whole machine shop, including NC machines. I just was looking for something already made to save time. I will probably either just use the RB flange (either for use or for a template) or the single SS flange route. We'll see how much time I have when I get the motor in the chassis and ready to go.

As long as you get them mocked up true to one another separate flanges would be a good idea, especially on a 3-rotor. They'll allow for more expansion and contraction of the flange. SS has a greater coefficient of expansion than mild so this becomes an issue with stainless. Believe it was a-spec that had issues with 304 stainless flanges expanding enough to literally pull manifold studs out of the rotor housings. The RB flanges are relatively thin at 3/8". A-Spec uses 1/2". Respeed used to offer 1/2" mild flanges on their website for a great price but they don't show them anymore. Might be worth a call?
