has anyone used these corner seals? what results did you see?

http://www.hurleyrotary.com/cornerseals.php

how about there "double seal" side seals? and the spex seals too?

i been using RA full rebuild kit. but im looking to use stock mazda except for the hurley corner, apex, and side seals.

i have heard of the RA seals ruining housing. and early water jacket failure also. i havnt experienced either yet. but i have only about 600 miles on the motor, and havnt opened to see how the housings are doing.

opinions on hurley seals?

Ive heard some bad here and there, much of it related to the seals jamming in the grooves with minimal carbon build up. But I havent heard of anyone using them successfully and recommending them. It may be that they just arent advertised here much, being a british company. Or it could be that they fail to improve on oem parts which are proven to work just fine.

And I doubt you ever will. The OEM's pour tons if money into research and development to ensure that their parts will work for their designed purpose for the designed time period. Apex seals are a great example. Its easy to make a more detonation resistant apex seal(unbreakable), and even do so at a lower cost than the stock seals. But the long term testing is done at the customers expense, and look at the deal with the RA seals. Many people are having problems with excessive wear.

I think there are very few parts in the aftermarket that can be considered "better" than the oem pieces. Usually, aftermarket stuff justs shifts balance of compromises. Nothing is without compromises, and many of those are cost and ease of manufacture related. That leaves open a large door for more expensive parts that are superior in some aspects, usually performance for us. But think about how much money it takes to build a car full of aftermarket parts, and then think about what you could have gotten for that price from a manufacturer. Its kinda scary to think about how many cars you can get for $30k new after you just dumped $15k worth of parts into your $15k rx7...

Built a half bridge motor 2 years ago running all HURLEY seals.I was surprised at the novelty of the conrner seals and the 2 piece side seals. However the motor has been run with no ill effects so far. This particular FD is really used during the week and drag raced on weekends,it is a single turbo conversion motor. The proof of how good the seals are will be seen if and when the motor needs to be opened again.Hurley one piece apex seals are being used for some 10 second drag cars with good results.

I have a set of those corner seals in one of my motors. They have been good and held good compression. I only have 3000 miles on this motor. I broke the rear plate on it acouple months ago (T2 S4). I don't care for the little springs on the back as well as oem springs. But they have worked. I am going to change the motor to a cosmo motor so I'll take it apart again soon. The motor makes power too high in the RPM band for street use (It was still making power at 9K and it wanted more). It was orginally set up as a drag motor for another car.
