Can a NA side and inter housings fit on turbo rotor housings?

Tom93R1 10-04-2007 01:11 PM

yes, they will fit... unless by NA you are talking old school 13b 4-port then the coolant o-ring grooves become an issue.

pvillknight7 10-04-2007 01:24 PM

Yes, they fit. What is the project?

iox106 10-04-2007 02:00 PM

The project is a 13bt that I'm building. I bought an engine under the impression that the internals are all turbo and the inter/side housings are NA. The engine ran carb NA for a little bit and just wondering if its just bullshit. I was told from a local guy that im friends with that the internals/rotor housings are all racing beat and new. He said i just need to rebuild it and switch out the housings. This is the only pic that i have of the engine.

need more pics to be sure, but we do have a couple of clues...

1. the car is a gxl, so it came with an NA motor

2. that center housing has an egr block off, so that is an NA part for sure

The is a 90 gxl it has full turbo2 drive train. I know this for sure i seen my tranny vs my buddys na one and its huge.

If the housings are turbo 2 there will be no diffuser inside the exhaust sleeves. If it is an NA housing there will be one

Looks like an S4 NA intermediate plate. S5's don't have EGR openings. S4 water pump neck...

There's really no way to tell whats inside it until you crack the keg.

Rotor housings are a small concern...

Rotor comp ratio and end plates are the things that matter.

To me it sounds like its a BS story and its really an N/A block.

But dismantling it will speak the truth.
