Is this too risky? Is the small bridge left between the ports too thin? I'm looking for realibility so i'd like to get at least 100,000 miles out of this engine

should i:

A. Use these and not worry about it

B. Report another set of plates and not touch that middle part

C. Get rid of the that all together and make it one large port

I see no problems with it. It doesnt appear to be encroaching on the corner seal track more than a typical early opening SP would. Just be sure to bevel the upper edge of the port so you diont have a problem with the side seals.

Hey man quick question... Are those "euro spec" plates or standard 6 port?

Mine were about the same size. As long as you round the upper edge of the secondary port to protect the side seal they will be fine. I saw one that had a break in the center of that little bridge, and that was intentional. I hear that same engine is still alive and kicking.

Good luck.

They're just standard 86-88 6 port plates... and the concern was with the thickness of the peice that separtes the two ports

I know you CAN open up the port to make one big port, you just have to port the **** out of your manifold. That "bridge" you are referring to is not a "bridge" like in a bridgeport motor. It does look thin though...if it cracks you may get pieces in the motor. Just open it up!!!!
