Question

I pulled my oil pan off my engine today and it had a decent amount of metal filings in it. Should I continue to tear it down for rebuilding or get a reman? All the apex seals are still good from what I see through the exhaust ports. Is there anything I can check without tearing the engine all the way apart?

Thanks

I am goin single. And it wasn't starting went through everything that I could to get it running again. With going single I didn't want an engine with 89k going with a brand new turbo. I got a quote of $2200 for a reman. What will they inspect to determine for getting back the core charge? Thanks

are you referring to metal filing sediment in the bottom of the oilpan? like some sludge on the bottom surface?

they usually just want the block, flywheel, and water pump housing. they dont look to see if its good thats why its a core

I am looking to see if anyone knows what it is first. The dealership said that the core engine shouldn't be taken apart.

looks like bearing filings from the rotors or stationary gears. when the bearing wears it exposses the brass in the bearing. saw this twice on a 12a when the bearings started to fail!
