Half Bridge...street Car?
#1
Well what do you think? What are the benefits of a half bridge over a big *** street port, besides the sound? :yum:
I want the car so stay mainly street but the occasional blast down the track. I know the half bridge isn't as reliable as a SP but how much worse is it? With a half bridge don't you actually keep the ports a little smaller then usual but add the bridge?
I'm just trying to decide what I want to do with my car. It won't be my daily driver any more so I can get a little wild with it now. My goal is to have it run mid-high 10's at the track but really be built for the street, which means around 500+ rwhp. I want GOOD boost response,(before 5k if possible) but want to try and avoid a Dual BB turbo if possible. Thats why I was considering a half bridge...to help with spooling a big turbo. I'll prolly end up with something like a t66 or t70 on this motor, but I'm open to suggestions.
What do you guys think?

I don't know if I'd call the noise a benifit.. lol, but a good built bridge ported engine with the right apex seal will be just as reliable as a side port.. It'll just take a little more maintenance due to overlap. You'll need more frequent oil changes etc.. Bridgeports also make their power up high so you need to build the engine to spin to 10k and over if you want to use it's full potential..

The side ports are very simular to the racing beat side templates that mazdatrix's sells... The ex port is quite large...
Bad pic's, but you can see them here..

I will more than likely be using the racing beat intake ports. My exhaust ports will definitley be bigger though. I will also be running water injection before going 1.3 bar since I don't trust my tuning.
