There is a gear inside the front cover. How do I take it off?

The one on the OMP/MOP? There is a couple of Circlips on there, I used a flat screw driver to remove them.

That gear drives the OMP. If you remove the gear and driveshaft, you MUST plug the oil feed that goes to the OMP. The feed goes from the front iron to the front cover at the flange. Its easy to see the hole when the front cover is off. I typically install a set screw into the oil feed after tapping it.

Failure to block off the oil feed will result in a loss of pressure at the front main bearing, and can lead to a spun bearing (ask me how I know).

Thanks guys. I didn't see the circlip. Will attempt to take it off tonight. I want to take it off so I can sand blast the front cover.
