I've decided to redo the fuel lines before I drop in the fresh motor and I'm wondering about parallel vs series fuel lines. I've read a little bit about how the setups are put together, but not really what the benefit of going one way or the other would be.

I plan on using AN lines, but I really don't know the proper size. I don't know what would happen if they were too big, too small, or if it's even possible to size them wrong. I was also thinking of using pushlock fittings as opposed to the tradition AN PITA-stye ends.

Right now I just have rubber hoses (eek!) hooked up to an FPR; I still have the stock fuel lines running to the tank as well.

So share your thoughts and let me know what you think! And mods, if this isn't the right area (because I really wasn't sure, but I knew this would get the most traffic) please move me.

what power levels are you looking for? what pump? the conversion your thinking of doing is the same setup I am doing on my RE FC. The benfit of parallel set ups are both rails get equal amount of fuel at the same time..no waiting for it to feed the primary then the secondary.. If it gives you any power benfits I would think that it does not. It will however help prevent a lean condition.

I'm hoping to make at least 400whp, maybe 500, I'm really not sure how much potential this setup has. I have a Walbro 255.

Thanks for the invaluable information Comitatus .

I already have those rails, so that's great news. I just can't see myself finishing this project and having rubber hoses.

I only have one question, and maybe it's stupid, but it's better to ask and find out now then have something go wrong! Why didn't you use a fuel distribution block?

BTW, it's already an external fuel pump. I never though about running two of them though. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I am running a setup very similar to yours. I have a Half-BP To4r with supporting mods, and I elected to run my fuel system in Parallel.

This is what I'm runnning:

KG Parts primary and secondary FC rails (www.kgparts.com)

720 primaries, 1680 secondaries

Marren FPD off of secondary rail

Aeromotive FPR

Nippo Supra TT Fuel pump (I believe it flows more than a Walbro 255)

-6AN lines and fittings from the stock fuel filter foward, and back to the stock return line.

My motor put down 470whp on the dyno at 18psi on Race Gas

We didnt push it further, because the injector duty cycles were in the low 80's.

So basically I ran out of Pump. If you are looking for that 500 mark, I would suggest running a dual pump setup, or running a large external pump.

Let me see if I can find a pic...

If you look in the picture on the left, I am running a -6AN Y instead of a distribution block.

So your Walbro is an external pump? I thought the Walbro255 was a drop in pump...

If you ran 2 external pumps, you could run one to each rail. And if you didn't want to go the Stainless line route, there are some really nice SuperStock Rubber hose, that looks and works really well.

You can find it here: http://www.amstreetrod.com/780004ASR.php4

It's much cheaper than SS as well.

The Walbro is available in both forms, and since they don't have a drop in for the FB, I just picked up an external.

The only reason I asked about the distribution block vs the y adapter is because the other implementations I've seen used a block. Now, one more question . What type of fitting is used to connect the fuel lines from the tank to the SS lines?

I left the stock fuel lines that run from the tank up to the bay in place.

On the TII, I believe there are 3 hardlines. One is the feed, one is the return, and one is the vent line, I believe.

I just slipped the hose right over the hardline coming off the fuel filter for the feed, and slipped the return line from the FPR over the return hardline on the firewall. Just clamp the hoses down with a worm clamp, and you should be fine.

A -6AN line fits nicely on a stock hardline.

Thanks again for the advice. It's comforting to get direct, complete advice from time-to-time. I'm taking this info to my local speed shop so I can drop more $$ on the car...haha.
