Front Cover O Ring
#1
what method do you use for the high pressure front cover junction? henry @ mazdatrix recommended using just the teflon ring on an S5 housing, with no gasket and RTV.
I tried teflon ring plus the O ring, and no gasket w/RTV and when I went to remove the front cover becuase it had a stripped oil pan hole (replacing cover).... I discovered the O ring had caved in to form a pac man shape with just a small mouth. I thought maybe I had used the wrong O ring but there are no smaller rings in my gasket set, and it fit snugly in the teflon ring. I will be using just the teflon ring now as per mazdatrix suggestion.
What's your method?

The new gasket here in Japan on the 99+ FD is metal and you only use the teflon o-ring.. The gasket can also be reused so you don't have to buy a new one after every overhaul, and you don't have to spend 30 min + trying to get the old gasket scraped off of the front cover etc..
the part # is: N390-10-502 and it cost around $20
