Question: are brand new rotors cad plated or have yellow hue to them? Or are they silver in color (color of machined steel).
they are cad plated, gold cad like all the bolts and stuff.
there seems to be 2 rotor machines. one leaves a really nice finish, like the picture in this thread. the other machine is rougher.

This is what they look like after the tide bath. I just dried them off with a clean towel as best I can and doused them in rust check oil to prevent corrosion. THe rotors still have some cad plating left on them. The soft edge that the FSM claims is still somewhat there. It some sort of organic lube that is vapor deposited on the edge of the rotor to help on initial firing i think. only 1 rotor has a bit of it left. The rest are all gone.

Looks good. Suppose this way is probably more female friendly. The kerosene worked well for me, but I got **** about the smell.
Dont you have chemical gloves?

I have read you should treat your rotors like fine china...
So I put them in the dishwasher- cleaned up well.
Me- "I am putting my rotors in the dishwasher, so don't run a load until I run it empty to rinse it."
GF- "Okay, thats fine."
