No no no didn't you read?? They added iron around the dowel holes because nobody was having any trouble at all with broken out dowel holes. Mazda just wanted the engine a bit heavier.



And that Youtube shot of the 1658 HP three rotor single turbo, no extra dowels in that engine???



The progression of improvements in engines over the years is easy to follow and obvious. All reaction loads come out of the engine through the motor mounts, no matter where, English or Metric.
