Emergency question, oil leaking from front eshaft bolt
#1
This is on an FD race car with an rx-8 eshaft. We had to pull off the front cover to change a separate leaking oil fitting, and now that it's back together the front eshaft bolt is leaking oil(unknown whether it was leaking before, due to the other major leak). The bolt had the little oring present, as well as silicone applied to the flange surface of the bolt. It was torqued to 200 ft lbs. The car also has a solid thermopellet replacement plug.
Any advice would be appreciated as we are trying to make a race this weekend.
Thanks,
Nik

Replace copper washer, check for cracks
Ok, I was wondering about the copper washer. FD apparently does not have one? I was told it did not, and there was none in the engine.

The REW uses a different bolt than older 13b's, and the renesis uses a third bolt design. How much of a difference does this make?
i dunno but they tighten the fVck out of the rew bolt

Let me guess, this is one part the RE shares with the REW?
Yes. The RE and REW use a bolt with a thicker flange and a much higher torque rating. Spec on the FC is 89-98 lb/ft where the RE and REW are 180-200 lb/ft. As has been said the RE/REW don't use a washer like the FC.
