Does The Oilpump Use An O Ring?

Couldn't find anything in the fsm related to it.
Shortblock is ready and there appears to be a spot for the an Oring in the middle of the pump, but when I put an o ring in there the pump won't turn. Is that little depression not for an oring or just for that little clip on the pump?
