I don't buy it and I recommend those that are considering it to not do it until there's empirical data to substantiate it. There's a reason why Mazda doesn't do it and has never done it. I think that ought to be considered.
The only one time I've seen a coating done was on a customer's motor that fell apart after a few thousand miles; the coating having come off in shears on the irons. Real nice.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

What kind of coating? I do not see chunks coming off. The coating is only .004 of an inch thick embedded in. Was the surface not prepped properly afterwards? What could wear off in a few thousands should go right out the exhaust.
BDC has never had anything done by us. He must be referring to some other companies.
We had another large companies coatings flake off some piston domes on a Porsche engine. It ruined the engine.
Not all coatings are created equal....

Do you do the coatings for other people or for you engines only?? Thanks
