has anybody ever tried to use a quadrajet or any other spread bore style carb?

It is probabal that somebody tried it somewhere. That carb works fine on a 355 to 500 cubic inch engine.



Half of it would be too big for a 80 cubic inch rotary. There would be so little air flow that no vacuum

(flow depression) or pressure differential would be generated.



So the engine could idle OK with that carb, and come off idle a bit so long as the accelerator pump shot lasts, but then it would quit, lean, unless the butterflys are closed quickly enough to get back on the idle circuit.



A big throttle body will act close to the same way if you cannot tune in a huge low speed shot right off idle.



Good thinking though.
