why the stock tb?

Yes, why? I would have used those IDA style throttle bodies for sure.

Nice going, looks nice.

Yeah, I think you need a plenum...

There's some weird resonances that might affect performance; Mazda went through a lot of R&D to minimize it's disruptions and maximize it's effects to performance.

Get a dyno run on that thing!

It looks promising!

I think your reasoning is backwards on that. I think the negative resonances are no worse than any other design, only different. Mazda must have had a pretty good reason to use it on the S5 n/a, the FD, and now the renesis.

IDA's would be nice seperate tb for each intake port. Might be a pain to get them synchronized but it would be worth it.

Looking good dude https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Could you get some pics on how the intake runners join onto the plate that bolts upto the engine...

Ive been wanting to make my own intake for a while now, and i carnt seem to find any pics on the join to the intake flange...

How did u bend the pipe, what did u get your flange made out of?

Thanks

Peter

Sure, here`s some pics of the parts I have used.

Nice work.

The flanges is made of a 8mm steel plate. I`ll take some more pics of how the pipes attach to the flanges later this week..

I choose to use the stock tb because I wanted to be able to only use the primary intake ports at part throttle, giving better idle and midrange power. If I had used ida styled tb, It would have used both the pri. and sec. intake ports at any throttle. There is a good thread about intake runner length at the "rx7club.com" where you can find the formulas for estimating the runner length.

Cheers

Looks like someone opened up the McMaster Carr catalog and orderd some parts https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I bet it's going to weigh a lot though, being 316ss.

Do you plan on TIG welding it when it comes time to do the final welds?
