i have a question to do with apex seals. Which are better, 2mm ceramic /or steal/ or carbon seals or 3mm. this is for minor street racing and general use.

mazda oem 2mm are pretty good!

 

One day I may try another 2 mm motor.

 

Ceramic sealas are VERY expensive, about $2000 to do a whole engine. Carbon seals aren't supposed to be used in turbo engines, and they don't last very long in NA engines. The stock steel seals work very well, even with alot of boost. The 3 mm steel Hurley seals are good, but you have to cut your 2 mm rotors to make them fit.

 

so far so good for me with 2mm :bigthumg:

 

Ceramics are defenitly the best, however are expensive and when they do break (cause they will too eventually) they will destroy just about everything in their path. Stick with stock 2mm's or hurley's.

OK, Fellas, heres another match up.. How bout Stock 3 piece versus 2 piece Seals from Atkins..?

 

i also an curious why vosko is so adimant (sp) about stock apex seals.....
