6 weeks isn't bad. If you ever tried to buy subaru parts that is considered quick.

Or you could buy them from Mazda in Canada for something like $550 CDN without shipping costs.....

The mazda dealers in western Canada are currently in the 650-700.00 Cdn range per housing. Hence the reason I bring my own in myself. The problem with buying parts from either side of the border here, is they are not NAFTA exempt, the taxes you get nailed with would take the housings up to US pricing, unless of course you lie on the shipping the forms. Stuff coming this way is around 14-18 %if it does not have Nafta papers with the GST rolled in. US people would make up about 16% on the currency but probably lose it on the import duties depending on state taxes if they get nailed for no nafta papers.

Cheers that is FD housing.

Yeah 6 weeks isnt really to bad, I just stock up whenever I go over to save on the shipping. The way the parts distribution and selling is done in Japan, its very hard to get good prices out of there as well. For the most part, the dealers and rotary shops there charge as much or more for engine parts as they do here. Its still 6500.00 in Japan to build a new motor.

yeah the way everything is priced it makes a lot of sense to buy a reman engine, and rebuild it. 2 rotor housings+gaskets and seals + o ring set is more than a reman....

nafta huh? we get grey market stuff sometimes, part of the mazdausa markup is shipping+import fees and stuff, i wonder if thats why the grey market is cheaper. not just that they buy wholesale in japan...

Remans are getting expensive. I heard a rumor that if Mazda dealership doesn't install the motor for you, there is no warranty on the motor. Is that correct?

That is the going rule out here apparently for motors. I would hate to see the dealers labour tab on a motor change.

From what has been said by some about remans, that might be a risky adventure as well.. The upside about a new motor is that you know everything is good and the core parts will be good for another rebuild again after that. When it comes to power production and crispness, nothing beats an all new motor, you can hear the difference standing beside the car.

Its easy to see why people try and circumvent mazda with magic apex seals, housing recoating, rotor milling, etc, but so far all that stuff has just led to more munched parts than it saves...

I have to say the funniest thing so far, is that all the motors I have seen blow on a dyno have all been 3mm motors, both here and in Japan.
