Yeah just spray the **** out of it with brake clean. Make sure you read the pinned topic about sealing the oil pan.

**** cleaning it.replace it 78 bucks,to much work to replace it later if it leaks.if you are building a new engine what another 78 bucks?

anyways, I ran a wire wheel along the gasket surface and washed it in the parts washer at work. Then I painted the outside semi gloss black like the other stuff under my hood.

Check out under the cleaners sections LIX gets it done www.amessupply.com I have used it to clean ofice machines i.e. IBM selectric typewriters. Prolly years before you all was born... just bear in mind if you soak it for a long time .. it might turn black.. but this cleaner mixed with mineral spirits kicks ***

If y9our gonna be doing alot of work on your car and I gotta assume that you are at this point.

Invest ina parts wash. You will be happy that you did.



Just too bad that you can't get varson in drum contaners from local auto supply stores in Maryland .

Wire wheel and parts cleaner works best. The other ways are just too time consuming.
