Apex Seals and Rebuild Parts
Hey guys, I'm just about ready to start my S5 rebuild, so I need to order parts. I've been looking around the forums a bit, and I have a few questions.
First, Apex seals. Originally I was looking at Atkins, but after searching the forums it looks like a lot of people like the OEM mazda ones. I'm still not quite sure which I want to go with. Opinions?
Second, when I figure out which seals I'm going with, how should I purchase them? I've seen the rebuild kits from Atkins, and Pineapple Racing offers a kit with OEM mazda seals. Are these better than purchasing separately? How do you guys buy your stuff?
Third, where do you guys get your parts from. I'd like to save money if I can(my S5 needs new tires too)
Thanks

i like oem's too, you dont have to worry about em, they just work.
ive heard good about atkins, but you have to make sure they are clearanced right, in every dimension!
if you decide to go oem, you can just simply shop for price. mazda doesnt supply "kits" everything is seperate, so a kit is put together by the store.
make a list of everything you need to get (gasket set, seals, etc) and then start shopping.

Okay, thanks guys. I've figured out what I need to order, and I'm searching around for the best price.
I did come across something interesting. I've seen a few people suggest using '93+ side seal springs. What's the advantage of this? Are they stronger or more durable?

+1
There is a visual difference between the pre-93 springs I've removed from core engines and the 93+. The 93+ is a heavier spring. I've heard some say that if you order the older part number you will receive the newer spring. However, I always order the 93+ part.
