Sorry to jump on this so late, but I don't regularly come in here... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Hey GMON, that's a great price for this service!

The pics look promising!

We looked into doing this sorta thing back when I was with K2RD.

The problem with machining such a deep hole is getting rid of the metal chips.

Drilling into rather shallow depths is not a problem, but trying to bore through 80mm of aluminum rotor housing is a royal pain in the ass!

The metal chips will easily score the bore.

You'd need a very good lubrication / evacuation system to take care of the metal chips.

We just didn't have that fancy of a set-up to handle this properly.

The metal chips just wreak havoc with tolerances. :(

As for the threads...

Yes, rolled is superior, but I don't think it's necessary in this situation.

It'll be overkill.

Mazda torque spec isn't even 30 lb-ft, so that gives you an idea of how strong the threads really need to be, as GMON has pointed out already.

If the threads are (heat) treated, this should be more than enough.

I would jump on this deal, but being in Hawaii, shipping would KILL me. :(

Good luck!
