My name jason and im from New Zealand all the way on the other side of the world . I have a 1980 Mazda 626 that ive put a 13b bridgeport in. Name: DSCF5404.jpg

Untill recently the engine gave up on me. Over rev ended up killing the rotor bearing and side seals clashing against the side plate leaving me with no compression.

While the engine in parts ive wanting to build a hard hitting Bridgeport. I know turbos will be easyer and PP will get more HP but i havent got alot of money and i love the bridgeport sound. I love the rotarys high up in the rev range POWERBAND , so low down power and torque arent that important to me

The engine has S4 Plates , S5 Housing , RX4 Rotors , S6 Stat Gears , Webber 48IDA and a S2 Electronic distributor. It was dyno tunned at 198hp at the wheels

Would you be able to suggest some modifications i should look at undertaking ? Ive been researching alot about 13b's etc etc , but thing im not sure about is how big i should make the ports ( Intake ports/runners , side plates , and exhaust port.

Would you be able to suggest some port sizes or is there a template that i am able to get ? with the S4 center plate is it possible to cut the same size port and bridge as the end plates etc etc ? I know some center plates dont have as much meat as others ? Would you remove the sleeves inside the housings?

In my town " Gisborne " we dont really get much stick from the police so noise is not a issue . What size exhaust and style would be best suited to a revvy 13b for lots of top end? The current system has some 2 1/4" headers > Twin 2 1/2" With 2 Resos in each > 3" over the diff to a muffler.

As for oil modification ? what should i be looking at doing ? Ive seen a few threads about increasing the size hole of the squirters in the e-shaft? and also some about increasing oil pressure etc etc .

Since weigh it always going to make a car rev freely or not , would you lightin the rotors , counter weight , e-shaft ? Ive seen the Counterweight angles been cut from 180 to 100 degrees to save weight. Since im going to be using S5 9.7:1CR rotors would i need to get S5 Counterweights or could i lighting the counterweights i have now , and just get the whole rotating assembly balanced ?

At the end of the day..... would you say that Clearances are the most important factor in building a reliable rotary? there are a few clearance in the FSM , but what would you say are the most important ones to triple check ? I realise alot of Rotary builders keep clearances are secret lol but im not after any top secret info , just some info to get me on the right track.

Any information would be legendary!!!!!

Cheers a Million

Jason

the motor in that car was ported using racing beat templates i know cause i lent the template to my freind only way to get more power is to make bridge bigger eg go into water seals balance the and lighten rotating assembly clearance the rotors and bearings for high rpm use

cheers tony

Legend man!!!! Are all the ports a good size etc etc? found out when i pulled it down that the center plates hadnt had the same porting done on it, lol but the scribe mark is still there.

This is olivers old car from devonport!!

Are you not happy with 198hp? to me thats pretty sufficent ,especially for a bridgeport!! yea if a racing beat template was used you can go bigger, just depends how much, depending on sideplate series etc are your housings chamhpered??? if not this can be done to increase air flow into the bridgeport, your exhaust is definatley sweet!!!! thats plenty ample for any bridgeport in terms of size/flow. intake well im not to sure who jetted it (was last done in wellington) but possible can be re-jetted to give better performance.but with 198hp thats heaps unless you start going down injected setup..if you do want more power out of your engine then your going to be willing to spend alot more!!! eg get comp parts, race bearings, race clearencing, oil mods etc all those high reving mods typical of a PP.. an very important when it comes to porting BIGGER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER!!!! its flow..flow in an flow out

Hows the exhaust porting on this engine????

yes clearance are extremley important on any engine!!!

When you mean you over reved it,what exactly happened??? what revs we talking etc!!!

Any more info etc just fire me a reply an ill help out..
