question with semi peri port( ive searched)

I want to start building my own peri ports mainly semi's I had thought about cutting one inch holes and tig welding stainless steel sleeves in on the housing filling the water jacket with devcon. I recently got a set of fd housings that were already semi ported but the insert looks like it's pressed brass is this commonly done? What are some of you veteran builders doing?

I built one set of Periphery Ported 12-A housings for an Auto cross Mini Cooper. Ran great with wheel spin everywhere, but the engine had set for 2 years while the car was built. The weekend started and ended with no oil pressure. The owner assumed it was the gage (since it was a new engine) and ran it anyway. I was not at this event to stop him and the engine died profoundly.

I used exhaust pipe tubing and mad up rectangular ports, I filled the housing around the tubing with Devcon Plastic Aluminum. No leaks for about 20 minutes anyway. I doubt it would have ever leaked.
I know that some folks weld the tubes onto the nodular iron liners but do not agree that it is a requirement. Just too much to loose if you get things too hot and ruin the housing by warping it. An aluminum tube would make perfect sense as it would expand and contract as a unit with the housing. Same for the Aluminum filled epoxy. If you like round ports.

Adding port area to a side ported NA engine will chase the peak power way up the RPM band. Tubo engines are different. For NA engines I would do a steel tube and
form it into a rectanglular port shape. Just build a real Periphery port engine. I would do a rectangular port for small size and high velocity at the port face. This is for good low speed performance like leaving trafic lights.
A 13B sized engine would be about 360 HP at 9,000 RPM.
Do all of the high RPM mods as well. And have oil pressure before you start the engine. 100 PSI always.
