Ok guys,

My FD is already modded to the point where wheel size doesn't change my classing, so I'm wondering what to pick for wheels to use..

I have my Pirelli Pzero's in 225/f and 245/r on 18" wheels,

or the stock rims with some cheap but decent tire (Kuhmo) in 235/f&r

I currently have some crappy but new tires on the stockers, so I'd have to buy new tires for autocrossing if I chose that route.

Stock FD wheels with 245s Kumho V710s would be good. There aren't many 16x8 manufacturers. You would have a hard hard time finding 16x9s that are light. CCW I think makes 16x9s. But you are paying big bucks to get an extra 10 mm of tire width.

That tire apparently isn't available until October in that size Cheers!.

Steve, if you're looking for a tire you can put on at home and drive to the event and back safely you should look at 245/45/16 Yokohama AO32Rs or Toyo RA1s. They're not the fastest R-compounds for autocross, but they have the deepest tread blocks and wear the longest.

Yes, that was an important oversight in my original post. I will need to drive to and from the event as I have no trailer. I actually don't know how much I'll require R-compounds, this it my first year autocrossing. I kinda figured a good, relatively cheap tire mounted on the stockers would be best.

I would still look at the Yokohama. I've always been told by guys that have been autocrossing for a long time that R-compounds actually tend to be MORE durable under this abuse. Talk to Jim, he got some of these for his car. Actually, you might have seen them at the retreat?

Also check out with your regional autocrossing group where to buy them locally. There may be a local supplier who offers a big discount on R-compounds. One of our sponsors up here was selling Kumho R-compounds AT COST a couple weeks ago to competitors.

if streetability is an issue you could maybe fit the four stocks with tires in the hatch to get to your event. this wouldnt work if you had any luggage or other stuff to carry though. and you would have to leave your street wheels either outside in the open or try to lock them up somewhere

The really tough part will be getting both the FD and the support vehicle (the Bravada) to the event.

Yeah, I don't have the money for that. Even if I did, the bravada is such a piece that I would have to trailer it behind the seven!

have you thought about having a small trailer made to pull behind the 7? it would just have to be big enough to hold 4 tires. ive seen a z06 and an m3 do this, and i think 94t said his fd has a small hitch where the previous owner did this.

prob wouldnt be too much to have one of those made at a local welding shop, it could basically be just pipe
