am i the only one thats saddened about the lack of posts here. i can hear a cricket everytime i go to the drift forum. not that i can blame anyone there isny much to talk about here, i cant think of anything good to post either. well i was bored.... um yea....
hello................ ............anybody there....................::cricket cricket:.................... ...................... .................... ........ ...............wtf am i doing?..... |
its because there arent many active drifters about...
|
Can't say I am an active drifter, as I only have been to 2 DGTA events, and those were in my old AE86 I used to own. But I do plan to make a bunch of events this year with my RX8, if I can get my finances in order. Money is tight with my new kid coming.
|
i cant wait till the march events start rolling around in englishtown so i can give it a try
|
i was the only FD ever drifting.......... make that change !!!!

Yea and it is kinda dead in this drift section of the forum.Whoever said its because the lack of drifters on this sight may be right.Or it may be because its winter but I dout it lol. There is a lack of drifting in the U.S...were slacking. |

stock suspension and 285's in the back and low on power = hard to drift https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

I'd like to know suspension set-ups and alignment specs!
-Ted |
Ted,
My suspension setup is in the pinned section on this forum.....pretty basic I think Most people are not seriously out there doing this so it will be hard to find. I can find out what some of the Japanese are using exactly. Say the Sexy Style red FC or the Okada enginerring Jamaica colored FC.. |
**** it I will just post it all in here again.........there are some small changes.
Cusco coilovers 8kilo frt 7kilo Rr. Camber adjust pillow ball uppers set to max camber 1 deg of toe in on the front about 2deg of toe in on the rear Camber adjust rod set to near maximum in the rearMazda Speed Diff set to 10kilo initial tourque Toe control canceler bushings Rigid diff mount Rmagic Rigid Transmission mounts Efini(mazda speed) rigid motor mountsFront and rear tower bars roll cage 7 point 30mm over fenders 9j panasport G7 rims Falken Azenis 235-40-17 tires Project mu HC Titan Kai brake pads 350hp Turbo engine ( going to side port and TD06....estimated 370-380 at wheels) I put in bold the items I think changed the handling of the car most.......just my experience |
just to clarify, the rear camber set to max is that max negative camber? or max as in theres no adjustment left as close to zer oas possible?
|
Zeal Function V6 10kg front 8kg rear
Camber- max up front, homemade sublink bar in rear, maxed out Slight toe in front and rear Racing Beat front and rear sway bars Energy Suspension Bushings Rear Toe Eliminators Steering Spacers Falken ST115 225/45/17 I really need to get an allignment. After installing the bushings, I eyeballed and tape measured the toe settings. And I'm not sure what the camber is. I'd guess around -3 degrees up front, and -1.5 to -2 in back. That was 3 events ago. The car feels very balanced at faster speeds. Easy to control with the throttle. It tends to understeer at low speeds. I might just need more work on my driving and weight transfers. I still need to use the ebrake. |
just to clarify, the rear camber set to max is that max negative camber? or max as in theres no adjustment left as close to zer oas possible? It is set almost as close to zero as it will go. I had it turned more toward Zero but found it harder to Drift as speed. |
im gonna come with my moms C320 and drift that. ask mike ive drifted that bleotch before like a japanese pro while we were getting lost in the snow

No steering mods?
How do you compete with the S13/S14/S15's? -Ted |
No steering mods? How do you compete with the S13/S14/S15's? Like I have said before they really don't turn any sharper. Those mods are really only for when you mess up and you need that extra turn to keep you from spinning. Steering Mods are in order for my car later on........I have been dealing with engine problems for a while now but that is over and I will be driving more often. |
Does the car behave differently at different drift speeds?
Low - up to 35mph or about 60kph Medium - 35mph to 60mph, 60kph to 100kph High - over 60mph, 100kph + The alignment settings sound like it it's set-up for high speeds stuff, but it might be a little slow for the low speeds stuff? -Ted |
Ted, I think you were refering to me in your post. If so, then well hmmm......... Yeah every car reacts differentley between high speeds and low speeds. The more I drive the and practice then the faster I can go so my car setup will change a little to reflect that. Mostly at low speeds I can predict exactly what the car will do and drive it where I need it at higher speeds obviously things are happening faster and I still have a lot to learn. Normal drifting for Japan say Nikko circuit entrance speed to 1st corner is about 100 to 110 maybe 115 I really dont look at the speedo that often. however actual drifting forward speed would start at 110 and quickly decrease and forward momentum through the turn would result in about 90km/h reduced to about 70km for the next turn. The back two corners at Nikko will be connected if drifted properly and entrance speed will be about 120km/h increasing to about 130 for a second then dropping of to maybe 80km/h or so. I usually see a RPM of 6300 peak through out the corner in 3rd gear. So maybe my setup is for higher speeds.
The fastest sideways speed that I know of was just over 140km/h and that was a Fuji in a 100R corner. I hear guys talking about 100mph drifting but I don't know anyone who has been sideways....controlled.... at 100mph. |

I just found an advertisement in Drift Tengoku magazine for Super tie rods for FC and FD. They are from URAS... 128 bux for a set.
I think I will pick those up next month https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
Yeah, we're all talking about those things, but we can't see how it induces more angle. The pics don't have a good angle on showing the relationship of the tie rod end to the hub, but to change the angle, it has to be pulled inward - this changes the ratio of the steering but not very much according to the angle pics later on the page. 41-degrees(?) doesn't sound like that much of a difference, as we're getting more like 45-degrees with the relocated tie rod connection point on the hub. I guess we'll see if this experimenting will work on the track. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
