Probably around 700 or so. Thats what most of the local supra guys run.

[quote name='75 Repu' date='Aug 8 2005, 07:23 PM']I always hear people talking about how too much power is not that good.. and not enough is tougher to get goin.. so basically where is a good place to start as far as horse power? 200? 250? or is it more about tuning the car to stay in that sweet spot where you get all the power?

Just get int he car and learn to drift it, then decide yourself how much power you want. It really just comes down to personal prefernce.

yeah.. i have always played around in wide open spaces in the vert.. I used to go to the santa monica airport parkin lot after class and just romp around a bit.. nuthing crazy just tossing it and sliding it round.. but my stock suspension is a tad saggy .. so maybe i will fool with it once i get new struts..

i like 300 or more, i like to smoke teh tires

They usually have 300 to 400 because the engines in those cars hit those numbers with relative ease with some bolt-ons and a bit of tuning. Focus on the suspension first. Loads of practice is a given.

yea practice is key, i would sugguest to you new drifter parking lots in the late hours of the night

Hay Frank...I'm going to add my couple of cents here, just for you. suspension is the much more important factor in drifting. Its funny to me to see all the american drifters pounding so much Hp when they don't need it.. Many of the drifters I got to know in japan were running between 300whp and 350..with fast throttle response. All were using 1.5 or 2 way lsds. the suspension settings well they would play with them for hours to get it right..you need to just practice and figure out a setting that works for you. Lots of trial and error.

Now as time goes on the hp is going up and up..but hay I was breaking loose my impreza with only 180hp and holding the slides pretty long.
